A sixth-grade teacher at Leninhan Intermediate School, Carissa Bryant of Marshalltown, Alabama, US, has been arrested for morning to class drunk.
Police say Bryant was charged with public intoxication after test showed her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit on Wednesday.
The officer who responded to a tip from administrators at the school about a drunken teacher said the 33-year-old smelled like alcohol and her eyes were bloodshot.
He added that the married mother of one was also speaking in a slurred manner.
Bryant admitted she had been drinking before school started that morning.
She was released from jail after posting $300 bond.
Officials say the teacher who taught language arts and social studies has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
