Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega has dismissed the claim made by the Director, Media and Publicity of the People’s Democartic Party Presidential Campaign organisation (PDPPCO), Femi Fani-Kayode that the PDP was winning the presidential elections in 23 states and has scored 64 percent. According to the INEC boss, results have not been collated in more than 20 states.

“I don’t know the sources of such information (that the PDP is leading in 23 states). The results have not been collated in 23 states. Fairly very few states have actually collated. In fact, only two states have been collated […]. There is the need to be careful about the information being put there by people who are clearly partisan,” Jega said in his comment regarding the claim.
Speaking to journalists, Sunday, in Abuja, Fani- Kayode had said that the outcome of the claimed results was based on results filed in by its polling agents nationwide. However, he stressed that the results would be subjected to confirmation by INEC.
The former aviation minister also described as absurd and childish, results being released on social media. He stressed that the results were being sponsored by the APC, warning the opposition to desist from sponsoring fake results that could plunge the country into chaos.
“As we speak now, we are winning in 23 states and we have 64 percent while the APC is winning in 14 states and has 36 percent. These results are subject to confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission.”However, we are certain of what we are saying because we have information from our agents in every polling unit nationwide. No one must test our will by attempting to change these results and the APC should desist from pushing this nation to the brink of fire, chaos and destruction with their dirty lies and propaganda,” he said.
