Few hours after the widespread news of his arrest yesterday, former governor of Akwa Ibom state, senator minority leader, Godswin Akpabio denied the arrest gone viral on the medias.
According to a series of tweets from his handle, he voluntarily honoured the EFCC's invitation to answer some questions regarding a petition brought against him.
An Abuja-based lawyer Leo Ekpenyong had petitioned the EFCC and President Muhammadu Buhari, calling for the ex-governor's probe for for looting Akwa Ibom state treasury.
He alleged that between January and December 2014, the ex-governor colluded with two of his top aides to steal N108.1 billion from the state’s treasury.
