DASUKI CASE: "REVOKE EX-NSA's BAIL, REMAND HIM IN PRISON, FG TELLS COURT

In a fresh motion on notice, the Federal Government has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to revoke former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki's bail and to have him remanded in prison pending his trial.
The Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Mohammed Diri, sought the revocation of Dasuki's bail on Monday, Nov. 23, in the earlier charges brought against him - illegal possession of firearms and money laundering.

The motion was in pursuant to section 169 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, and on the ground that a committee auditing the procurement of arms in the armed forces and defence sector from 2007 to date is currently investigating Dasuki.
The motion stated that the probe panel had alleged misappropriation of over $2billion, adding that more facts are emerging that requires the presence of the former NSA.
It also informed the court that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the arrest of those indicted in the case, which includes Dasuki. It noted that national interest is at stake.
The motion also claimed that, if Dasuki is allowed to travel abroad, he might tamper with the ongoing investigation. Citing intelligence reports, it said the ex-NSA wants to use the medical trip to escape justice.
It suggested that the National Hospital, Abuja and other teaching hospitals in the country can treat Dasuki's ailment.


Dasuki's lawyers have however countered the motion.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola adjourned the matter to November 26.
