ZIKA VIRUS ALERT: NIGERIANS CONFIRMED BARRED FROM TRAVELING TO LATIN AMERICAN NATIONS

What a puzzled world we are living in!! Different kind of diseases emerge everyday! It was really painful when due to ignorance remember how many HIV/AIDS has sent to a land of see no more. This deadly disease killed more than to be counted many a people in the
world.

After that comes another deadly one called Ebola that killed too many people especially in Cameroon but few in Nigeria. Subsequently, followed by Lassa fever which according to report has hit 42%. This killed people in Lagos, Edo, IMO and Ekiti state.

Now, comes another one called Zika virus.

The Federal Government on Friday warned Nigerians against travelling to Latin America nations.

The decision was given following the outbreak of Zika virus in the region.

Pregnant women were particularly asked to stay clear of the region until further notice.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, while making this disclosure called for closer monitoring and screening of passengers at various ports of entry in the country, especially for those who had visited Latin America recently.

Adewole also stated the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has included Zika virus diagnosis as part of ongoing effort to manage Lassa fever outbreak in the country.

He assured Nigerians that there is no single case of Zika virus infection in the country, saying there is no need for Nigerians to panic.
