The Idoma land area of Okpoga and Igle community in Benue state, Nigeria is currently suffering from severe bloodshed as Okpoga and Igle communities are seriously fighting. Frayokit News learnt that no fewer than four people have been killed in the fight. One Mr. Ejeh from Oklenyi and Godwin Amari from Okpudu were killed in cool blood by the people of Igle. In retrospect, the people of Okpoga community took to war with the people of Igle community. Frayokit News learnt that Okpoga people have set one of the Igle sons who did business in Okpoga market axis ablaze at exactly the heart of Okpoga round about.
According to the source that spoke directly with Frayokit News on phone, said that "The fight was ensued as a result of the killing of Mr Olode by the people of Igle who were believed to be a group of an armed robbers. Olode means a member of community vigilante group. He was formerly a member of an armed robbers which were believed to be operated by the strong men of Igle. After series of operations in those communities, he decided to repent and disassociate himself from the robbery. After some months of his disassociation, the rest members of the gang started looking for him, saying that if they should allow him to live he will reveal all their secret. Unfortunately for him, they ran into him today; and immediately they gunned him down. In fact, as I'm speaking with you, we are on the run to the neighbouring village for our lives".
It is no strange that these two communities are fighting. The red light of this fight has been seen long before now. There have always been a clash between these two communities over land acquisition. Frayokit News was told that Igle people have always wanted to invade Igberi, Ameju, Effeche to forcefully take possession of their land; but they have never had the opportunity. It was allegedly reported that the people of Igle are naturally troublesome that all the land they are claiming to have belonged to them was not true.
Another source told Frayokit News on phone that, "The whole of Okpoga land is on fire as no one knows what is going to happen in the next minutes. You have got to see the troop in which our people are running for their lives and from their houses with their families and some other belongings. Right now as I speak with you, I'm taking my family, my wife and the five kids to the neighbouring village until we see the deemed light of the fight we shall not return home".
Killing besieging the Idoma land over a period of time has always been on the increase. Few months ago, the Agatu communities of Idoma land were thoroughly wiped away like flies by Fulani herdsmen.
During the latest attacks, 17 communities were destroyed while unspecified number of houses, farms and stores of harvested crops were destroyed by this so-called Fulani herdsmen.
