As Nigerians continue to suffer scarcity of petrol despite being an oil producing country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation claimed 1,194 trucks of petrol are set to be distributed nationwide. According to the NNPC’s Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily supply nationwide schedule, twenty one import vessels laden with a total volume of 844.1 million litres have been confirmed to arrive in the month of April for NNPC. The statement added that the NNPC and marketers vessels are currently discharging at various depots and jetties nationwide.
See the breakdown of the supply Lagos got 467 trucks (15,411,000 litres) Abuja, 141 trucks (4,653,000 litres) Kano 23 trucks of 759,000 litres. PortHarcourt, 29 trucks (957,000 litres); Kaduna, 36 trucks (1,188,000 litres) Ebonyi received four trucks of 132,000 litres. Ondo received 15 trucks (495,000 litres); Sokoto, eight trucks (246,000 litres) Borno seven trucks of 231,000 litres. Cross River got 16 trucks (528,000) Plateau nine trucks of 297,000 litres.
Recall that minister of state for petroleum resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, had said petrol queues would clear in Abuja and Lagos by April 6 or 7, adding that the scarcity would subside in other parts of the country, including Kano, Katsina, Port Harcourt and Warri, by that weekend. But check by our reporter revealed that only few petrol stations now sell the product in Lagos and Ogun. While petrol is sold for N86 per litre at available filling stations in Lagos, Ogun state and few other ones. But the standard price is N150 per litre. Sooner than few hours from now, the suffering of Nigerians will become a thing of the past.
