Manchester City have completed their second signing of the summer after announcing the £14m capture of Spain and Celta Vigo forward Nolito. Sportsmail revealed that a deal had been agreed between the two last month, and with Spain's Euro 2016 exit confirmed by defeat against Italy on Monday the 29-year-old was free to move. Pep Guardiola handed Nolito his Barcelona debut back in 2010 and was keen to be reunited with his countryman.
Nolito started all four of Sp ain's games at the European Championship and scored the second goal in the 3-0 win over Turkey, but lasted only 45 minutes of the last-16 defeat by Italy. Speaking to the club's website he praised Guardiola and insisted the former Bayern Munich boss would get the best out of him in England.
'I think that Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. He knows a lot about the game and he's going to help me progress as a player and I'm sure he'll get the best out of me.
'I'll do everything that the manager asks of me, try my absolute best and do everything I can to try to repeat the form I've shown throughout my career at various clubs. 'It's just about trying to play my normal game and let's hope that I can help Manchester City to win games.' Nolito joined Barca in 2008 to play for the B-team but was called up for the first team two seasons later, coming on for Pedro in a Copa del Rey game.
