A chief in the Och’Otukpo’s cabinet identified as Chief Oiji has been crushed to death by an alleged ‘pure water’ truck along Upu road in Otukpo, Benue State. The Chief was said to be carrying a woman on the back of his motorcycle from Otukpo-Icho village, heading towards Otukpo town around 7am today, before the truck lost control and rammed into them
.
Our correspondent who witnessed the incident noted that the two victims were rushed to Ihotu clinic where Chief Oiji was later pronounced dead. The passenger is currently in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The truck was set ablaze by angry mob, who arrived the venue after they heard that the chief was dead and already taken to the Mortuary.
