A 34-year-old bricklayer, Mr. Akinyemi Koja Edgar, has allegedly murdered his wife, Ajoke Kalejaiye, 28, and buried her remains beside a well.

The incident occurred a few streets from their residence at Mowo area of Badagry, Lagos, on December 14, 2017 while the suspect is still at large.

It was learnt that the matter was reported to the police at Morogbo area of Badagry by the Baale of Mowo before the case was transferred to the state Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, for further investigation.

However, the father of the deceased, Mr. Atewologun Kalejaiye, has been mourning his daughter who left behind three children. Atewologun is crying out for help so that the runaway husband could be apprehended and brought to book. When contacted on the phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident.

He said: “The man is a bricklayer, while his wife was a graduate, so they have been having domestic issues. We learnt that neighbours have been settling the issues for them from time to time. But this time around, the man beat the woman to death and dragged her body to another location. “He killed the woman and disappeared from the location where he kept the dead body, when vigilantes sighted him. The vigilantes discovered where he kept her body. “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba. However, we are on the trail of the man.”
