
The building is said to be under construction. An eye witness who spoke to New Telegraph blamed the collapse on the use of substandard materials.
He said that the disaster would have been more devastating if not for the timely intervention of the state emergency management agency who alerted other state agencies, including the Red Cross to rescue the trapped persons.
According to a Director of State Emergency jn Anambra State, SEMA, Mr. Chukwudi Onyejekwe, he said that no life was lost even as he reveals that six persons were have been rescued from the rubble.
It was however learnt that the six injured persons have been taken to the hospital for medical attention. On his part, the Chairman, state Material Testing and Laboratories, Ebosie Ezeoke, said the structure was constructed within two months noting that it was totally unprofessional. He said that the sample of the materials used for the building has been collected for technical analysis and further investigation.
