Getting teenagers to actually sit down and revise for their exams can be hard work - especially when there are so many distractions around.
Some parents end up bribing their kids with cold hard cash in a desperate bid to get them to care about their school work, especially when it comes to GCSEs.
But one dad's kind promise to his daughter ahead of her GCSEs has ended up costing him a lot more than he bargained for.
Two years ago, Clive Rowlands, 58, told his daughter Molly he would give her £100 for every A* GCSE she achieved.
But this week, the 16-year-old's envelope contained her school's 'best every results'.
Molly, from Rhondda in Wales, got 14 A*s, meaning her dad owes her £1,400. Ouch.
Clive said: "It was two years ago now and it was a bit of a joke at the time - I had a bit of a shock when I heard."
Molly, who now hopes to go onto study her A Levels said she 'really wasn't expecting' to get such amazing results.
She said: "I worked so hard but I never thought it would actually happen.
"I came to school a bit late and then I opened the envelope with my friend.
"When I opened the results I was just in tears - I burst out crying.
"I spoke to who one of my teachers and he said they were the best results the school has ever seen."
Lots of lovely stories came flooding in on GCSE results day.
