MINIMUM WAGE: ORGANISED LABOUR REJECTS N22,500 PROPOSED FIGURE BY GOVERNORS FORUM

Rising from the meeting held in Lagos today, Wednesday 31 October, 2018, the organised labour has rejected the N22,500 proposed figure by the governors forum.

FRAYOKIT NEWS reported how governors of the 36 states met on Tuesday and adopted N22,500 earlier yesterday.

While addressing newsmen in Lagos today, the national President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba  stated that it was a total disapointment from the 36 governors of the states to have concluded to pay N22,500 as new minimum wage as against the N30.000 proposed figure by the organised labour.

The position of the state governors appears to have angered the NLC whose president, Ayuba Wabba, on Wednesday told journalists that workers would now demand N66,500.

However, the President made their intention known to the governors forum during the meeting held in Lagos today, 31 October, 2018, insisted that the labour will embark on indefinite nation strike on the 6^th of November  2018 if the governors’ forum stick to the N22,500 proposed figure by the forum.

“We wish to reiterate our position adopted at our National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of 23 rd October, 2018 that any figure below N30,000 will not be accepted by us", said Ayuba Wabba.

Stressing further, He urged Nigerians to ensure of stocking foodstuffs in their homes that can last them for a very long time as the date to call of the strike if started on the 6^th of November is even unknown to himself.
