 1. Tragedy on Friday hit the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State following the death of seven of its supporters in Oginebe village along Agatu-Otukpo road. They were on their way to Agatu for the zonal campaign flag off of the party when their vehicle had a head-on collision with another oncoming car.

 2. Nigerian’s Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, GCFR, is dead. Shagari died at the National Hospital Abuja on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 93.


3. President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and other prominent Nigerians have commiserated with the immediate family of Shehu Shagari on the exit of the former President. They described the late leader as a true statesman and an icon of democracy.

 4. The family of late Nigeria’s Second Republic President, Shehu Shagari has disclosed the date for his burial. The late ex-President’s grandson, Nuradeen Mahe disclosed that Shagari will be buried on Saturday in Sokoto State. 5. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it is wrong to accuse it of partisanship or being an appendage of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The commission in a publication made available to newsmen by Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and member of Information, Voter Education and Publicity Committee, on Friday in Abuja, said that since INEC’s last governorship election in Osun on Sep. 22, the entire commission had come under attack from several quarters, including media organisations, as being deficient.

 6. The Nigerian Army on Friday said Boko Haram terrorists have not taken over Baga town in Borno, contrary to reports in some sections of the media. Maj.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, the Chief of Training and Operations called on the general public to ignore such reports.

 7. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has released the names of members of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2019 elections. The names released on Friday by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity had President Muhammadu Buhari as chairman of the councile, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as co-chairman as well as Femi Otedola as members of the team.

 8. The Enugu State Police Command on Friday confirmed the death of three persons with 15 others injured in an accident that happened on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.FREE DATING SITE. FIND GOOD LOOKING GIRLS HERE The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who made the confirmation in a statement in Enugu, said the accident occurred on Thursday at Ogbaku community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday by 7pm.

 9. The police in Anambra State have rescued two Catholic priests, who were kidnapped on Christmas eve by unidentified gunmen at Umueze Anam, Anambra East local government area. The priests: Rev Fr Peter Nwachukwu, parish priest of St Theresa’s Parish Umueze-Anam and Rev Fr Cajetan Apeh, who is his Assistant, were rescued on the evening of 27th December, three days after they were kidnapped.

 10. A suspect arrested allegedly for killing former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd) has revealed why the general was killed. 25-year-old Shuaibu Rabo, while being interrogated by Police, said Badeh was killed in an attack to rob him of money meant for the purchase of a new farmland.
