Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom last Thursday, hosted delegates of the Benue Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BECCIMA) and those of the Coalition of Northern States Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA) to a dinner at the Benue Peoples House ahead of the 8th Benue National Trade Fair holding in Makurdi.
Governor Ortom expressed his commitment to working with both organisations in turning around the fortunes of the state and nation at large.
“We are committed to working with the chamber to turn around the economy. With our potentials, if fully utilised, we will not wait for federation allocation. That’s why we are creating the enabling environment.
“The private sector is the biggest investor. With our understanding with the chamber, nothing will stop us from excelling. I want to appreciate you, you’re free, welcome, Benue is your home. You have nothing to fear. Relax and enjoy yourselves.” He said.
Speaking earlier, the President of CONSCCIMA, Alh. Abdullahi Suleiman (Mni) lauded the Governors efforts and expressed confidence that Benue State will be self reliant in the nearest future.
“Benue can be a country of its own. We see giant strides of your (Governor Ortom’s) administration. We will use you as a prototype for other states.”
He further thanked the Governor for his support to BECCIMA, having donated a Hilux truck and land for the construction of an ultramodern trade fair complex and office.
